Daniele Bianconi is Associated Professor in Greek Paleography at Università di Roma “La Sapienza, where he teaches Codicology and Greek Palaeography. After earning his Ph.D at the University of Cassino, he pursued his research in Siena and Arezzo, as well as at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales of Paris. His research spans from palaeography and codicology to the history of the book and the dynamics of cultural production in the Byzantine period. His studies on Thessaloniki as centre of learning in the Palaeologan period have opened a whole new chapter in the understanding of knowledge creation and transfer in the Byzantine millennium.
