The University of Verona leads the work package Manuscript Heritage. Fellows will be enrolled in the PhD Program in Philology, Literature and Performative Arts (Dottorato di Filologia, Letteratura e Scienze dello Spettacolo). They will work within the Laboratory of Medieval and Dante Studies (LaMeDan) at the Department of Cultures and Civilizations, led by Paolo Pellegrini. LaMeDan is funded by the University of Verona and works in close cooperation with the Fondazione Biblioteca Capitolare. LaMeDan’s mission is: 1. The study and cataloguing of the manuscript heritage preserved by Biblioteca Capitolare, including both the manuscripts of the Library and the documents from the Archive, the Archivio di Stato and the Biblioteca Civica; 2. The diagnostics of manuscripts and archive documents as well as their high-definition digitization, with a special focus on palimpsests severely damaged by chemical reagents; 3. The creation of an electronic catalogue and an open-access database that will make possible to use both the description of codices and parchments held by the archives and their digital reproductions.
